All Three Texas Court of Criminal Appeals Incumbents Targeted by Attorney General Ken Paxton Lost

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the state’s highest criminal court, consists of nine members elected statewide. Currently, all members are Republicans. Attorney General Ken Paxton actively worked to unseat the three Republican judges up for reelection this year. This move was in response to a 2021 ruling by the court that struck down Paxton’s ability to unilaterally prosecute voter fraud. Notably, all three incumbent Texas Court of Criminal Appeals Judges targeted by Attorney General Ken Paxton lost their seats.

Other Notable Outcomes
