Senate Sets Paxton Impeachment Trial for September 5, Adopts Rules of Procedure for Trial
The Texas Senate adopted 31 rules of impeachment to govern the trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton and set the trial start date for 9 a.m. on September 5.
One notable provision of the rules is that Senator Angela Paxton, wife of Ken Paxton, will be excluded from voting on "any matter, motion, or question" in the trial and from participating in closed deliberations.

The veto period for the 88th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature has ended with Governor Abbott issuing 76 veto proclamations.
The Governor signed House Bill 1, the FY 2024-2025 state budget, and issued only one line-item budget veto that deleted a contingency rider for a joint resolution that did not pass.
