Father and Son
Zachary Sanchez will graduate from class A-2021 167th Trooper Training class on Friday, July 30, 2021. Zachary is the son of Texas State Trooper Moises Sanchez, who was shot in the line of duty in April of 2019 while investigating a hit and run crash in McAllen, Texas. He died from his wounds after fighting a brave battle on 24 August 2019.

DPSOA Scholarship Committee approves over $50,000 in scholarships to existing and college bound students
The DPSOA Scholarship Committee met in Austin on Friday the 25th of June and approved over $50,000 in scholarships for continuing and first time applications. Over 88 applications were received. The awards range in amounts of $500 for non-member applicants to $1100 for member applicants. Trooper Chad Walker was ambushed while responding to a motorist assist in Limestone County near Mexia, Texas on March 26, 2021. The suspect fired at Trooper Walker before he was able to stop his vehicle, striking him in the head and abdomen.
