The 2024 Texas primary elections have unfolded, but the story isn’t just about who’s winning or losing; it’s about who’s not showing up to the polls.

Trooper Carlos Ray Warren TMU boat and Highway Memorial dedication

Trooper Carlos Ray Warren was shot and killed in 1991 on SH 71 East of Austin. 33 years later DPS honors his sacrifice by dedicating a new Tactical Marine Unit with his name. The Troopers who worked with Carlos purchased a highway memorial sign that DPSOA worked to get passed in the Legislature. That highway memorial will be erected when highway construction is completed near Hwy 71 and Toll Road 130.

Rep. Tom Oliverson Announces Candidacy for Texas House Speaker

Rep. Tom Oliverson (R-Cypress), currently serving as a committee chair under Speaker Dade Phelan, has declared his candidacy for the Speakership of the Texas House. This announcement comes as Speaker Phelan prepares for a runoff election in his district, marking the emergence of his first official challenger for the upcoming 89th Session, set to commence in January 2025.

Forty-Three Years later; It still matters.

Trooper Howard Jordan made the ultimate sacrifice serving the State of Texas. In 1981 he was killed in the line of duty in Texarkana. Last session the Texas Legislature passed a bill to allow for his highway memorial on U.S. 67. 43 years has passed, since his death. We move on, the family however, still lives it daily. It is important that we never forget those who pay the price, serving the State of Texas and its citizens. The DPS Troopers Foundation purchased the memorial sign. TxDOT sets the cost, the funds have to come from private donations. There are plenty of signs to purchase, and the Foundation while not the repository for fundraising, seems to be doing most of the work. If you are able, please donate.
