  • Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer (D-San Antonio) was elected Chair of the Texas House Democratic Caucus.
  • Rep. Victoria Neave Criado (D-Dallas) was elected Chair of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus (MALC). Other MALC officers elected include: Rep. Christina Morales (D-Houston) as Vice Chair; Rep. Mando Martinez (D-Weslaco) as Secretary; Rep. Mary Ann Perez (D-Pasadena) as Treasurer; and Rep. Armando Walle (D-Houston) as Legal Counsel.
  • Governor Abbott appointed his Deputy Legislative Director Courtney Hjaltman to lead the Office of Public Utility Counsel.
  • Governor Abbott appointed L’Oreal Stepney, P.E. to the Texas Water Development Board.
  • Rep. Bryan Slaton (R-Royse City) filed a lawsuit in federal court in Austin to try to overturn the state’s general prohibition on spending campaign contributions to help a candidate for Texas House Speaker.
